We support the following organizations, and encourage you to do the same.
Operation Iraqi Children: Operation Iraqi Children is a grass roots program to provide concerned Americans with a means to reach out to Iraqi kids and help support our soldiers' efforts to assist the Iraqi people. Through the School Supply Kit Program, we can help Iraqi children by gathering school supplies that our soldiers will take children to Iraqi villages. This program was started by actor Gary Sinise (CSI-NY, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13) and author Laura Hillenbrand (Seabiscuit: An American Legend).
UNICEF: UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. They believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path.
Cryobanks International: Cryobanks International's Public Cord Blood Donation Program accepts umbilical cord blood donations from anywhere in the continental United States any day of the week. The collection process is painless, non-invasive and utilizes cord blood that would otherwise be discarded as waste. There is no charge to donate and the donation will be listed on The Caitlyn Raymond International Registry and The Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide Registry, both accessible by anyone in need of a life-saving stem cell transplant worldwide. Most of all, our donation program is free of charge. At Michael's birth, we chose to donate his umbilical cord blood for research and treatment purposes. We strongly believe that umbilical cord blood is the best way to obtain human stem cells. These stem cells are available at every birth, and would otherwise be discarded as medical waste. Help stop the controversy over embryonic stem cells. Contact your elected officials and ask them to support umbilical cord blood donation.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: Greg's former colleague Pat rides in the annual Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of one of her family members. We are honored to support Pat and her efforts!
Koinonia: Koinonia provides emergency financial assistance for rent, mortgage, security deposits, utilities, and prescriptions, as well as serving families with emergency food and provide clothing and household items as needed. You can contact them at (703) 971-1991. We enjoy helping with their back-to-school needs, where school supplies are collected and distributed to needy children.
