How Matthew Got His Name

Matthew

The name Matthew kept popping up and disappearing in our discussions. We knew the type of name we wanted -- definitely something traditional with good Biblical references -- but we just couldn't settle on a name. When Matthew was born, we knew right away. Matthew it would be!

Charles

His middle name recognizes Mommy's side of the family.  Charles was the name of Mommy's Grandpop Kurz. At 84 years old Grandpop Charles Kurz was murdered while defending his wife from attackers in their home. There are not many people in this world who we can call true heros, but he is someone who definitely died a hero. Mom Mom feels very honored that her newest grandson carries her father's name.

Leiby

Of course his last name recognizes Daddy's side of the family.  Matthew joins his brother Michael as the only male carriers of the Leiby name going back at least 4 generations.  Daddy was Grandpa Leiby's only son.  Grandpa Leiby had a brother, but he had only daughters.  His father (George Sr.) was an only son.
